Imagine walking through the enchanting streets of Paris, exploring the many boutiques, cafes and sights when you happen upon a very quirky and interesting little place. A jewel box filled with whimsical objects, sparkling goodies and vintage lovelies all of which beckon one to come in and explore. Welcome to Le Petit Garage, our charming little shop that is inspired by the very magical spirit of the City of Lights and its chic, offbeat style.
Le Petit Garage is a fancy little joint and lifelong dream of Cara Hershey, proprietress at large. We opened our doors in July 2004 in a little refurbished garage in our family?s century old brick house on the beach in NJ. The shop is filled with a wonderfully eclectic mix of everything from sparkling accessories to doggie couture to flea market finds. Le Petit Garage is also proud to feature many one-of-a-kinds that are handmade and crafted by independent designers from all over the world.
We too are very fond of and cater to dogs, especially the one that inspired our crest logo. That is our beloved black lab, Moon, our bestest friend and trusty sidekick who sadly has gone on to Doggie Heaven but continues to watch over us and be the inspiration for all that we do. Moon was a very fashion forward hound and in her honor, we have added our Doggie Couture section to our shop featuring all types of good stuff for your little buddy like fancy handmade clothing, plush beds, yummy treats, hand painted bowls and much more. Dogs are always welcome in our shop and in our hearts.
Decorated in shades of white, with sparkling crystal chandeliers hanging from above, and antique furniture displaying a vast array of goodies one can?t help but be mesmerized by all that their eyes are feasted upon. One question that we heard over and over again was, ?Is this table for sale?? At the time it wasn?t! But because everyone loved the vintage furniture that housed all of our goodies so much, now pretty much everything in our shop is available for purchase, even the chandeliers! Oh, except for my mother?s antique frame-she would not be happy!
Inspiration is found in so many places for us at Le Petit Garage that we could never stick to one style, why would you want to? That is why we try to feature such a vast range of styles and tastes. A not so serious take on fashion, a certain ?je ne sais quoi? style mixed with a sense of humor is the Le Petit Garage motto. There is no one style we conform to. Our different moods lend to our day to day style, bombshell Marilyn one day, refined Audrey another. But most importantly, we dress up, accessorize and decorate for the fun of it not just for a special occasion! We hope you enjoy our shop and all that we have to offer! Thank you for visiting!
